At first the large leaves emerge lime green, then as they expand, turn pinkish, heavily speckled with white as if covered with frost, then shift to gray-green with a silvery appearance. Pink flowers and reddish stems add drama to this bold foliage accent. Combines well with flowering plants in containers on the deck or terrace, or alone as a specimen plant indoors. Grow as an annual or bring inside over the winter.
A diminutive plant cascading fine orange flowers in such profusion, that come late summer, they utterly obscure the pot. The blooms glow against a cool backdrop of small, waxy, leaves with softly serrated edges and delicate red stems.
A lovely and durable selection with pretty wings of foliage to 6ö in length and quantities of pink classic begonia flowers produced for many weeks in mid- to late summer. Easy to grow when provided lightly shaded conditions and well-drained, organically-enriched soil. These are offspring of our collections of this very hardy species from moderate elevations of the Kii Peninsula in the autumn of 1997.
This selection by Thurman Maness of North Carolina features brilliant deep red undersides to the leaves, glowing when backlit by the sun. Flowers have a reddish calyx and white corolla. An outstanding, splendid Begonia.
A magnificent performer at Fordhook Farm, this delicately lovely begonia displays an inflorescence of hot pink and lavender bicolor flowers hanging 12 inches long, twice that of the typical species. They pirouette gracefully down from the stems backed by shiny, triangular foliage. Later, the seed heads acquire striking pink tones. Best in partial shade and well-drained soil. An exclusive Heronswood introduction from seed collected in Japan.
