In autumn the pretty, apetalous white spikes of flowers on tall stems result in startling powdery blue fruit that resemble airborne bunches of grapes. This Asiatic species, the counterpart to our Carolina and Tennessee native blue cohosh, has striking bi-pinnate foliage formed on branched petioles. The beauty of this little known charmer never fails to attract admiring attention.
