This vigorous corydalis offers exciting color contrast. The mounds of ferny soft-yellow foliage remain colorful all summer. In spring true purple flowers garland the low, spreading plants. The flowers, graced with an appealing fragrance, continue to bloom in cool summers. In hot, humid climes plants will rebloom in late summer or early fall if cut back. Optimal locations are rock wall crevices and seams between pavers. Prefers coarse, well-drained but moist soils.
There are many fine blue corydalis. This one simply outshines them all. The jewel-like, fragrant, icy sapphire-blue flowers are densely produced atop rosettes of frilly blue-green foliage. In the heat of summer, plants go dormant, only to rebloom in fall in cool summer regions. Situate in a lightly shaded location in good garden soil.
