Fiery color lights up this Euphorbia, summer into fall. The erect succulent stems, light green in spring, in midsummer become topped with flaming bracts of brilliant yellow that are distinctly edged orange-red in midsummer. The foliage turns a blend of yellow, green, orange and red. Barry Glick crossed tender E. griffithii æFireglowÆ with E. polychroma to create this sterile hybrid that doesnÆt self-sow. Extremely deer-resistant and easy to grow in average, well-drained soils.
Discovered in Sally JohannsohnÆs garden in Tasmania, this striking silver-variegated euphorbia was brought back to North America by Heronswood in 1998. The erect stems are clothed with narrow bluish-green foliage edged in creamy white. In summer, the stems are topped by chartreuse bracts edged white. Best used in containers, especially striking when contrasted with dark foliage plants.
