Darrell and I collected this species at 2100Æ on Shikoku Island in Japan in 1997, with rather small cordate foliage to 3ö long, 2ö wide, medium green and glossy, with flowering stems to 1 ft. in height. The flowering stems presented but a few terminal flowers. (H. capitata has been collected on Shikoku, and if these indeed are verified as this species, they will represent a much different phenotype than my Korean collections of this taxon.)
