Hydrangea macrophylla 'Veitchii' (L) $12.95
Big Leaf Hydrangea
Dark green foliage and exquisite, delicate lacecaps of large, white, sterile florets (fading to chartreuse as the season progresses) surrounding blue, fertile flowers, make this one of the most popular Hydrangeas in the garden when in full blossom. A sturdy performer in a fairly shaded bed in our woodland, it would perhaps be better grown if planted in brighter conditions than we currently provide. 6 ft.
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Hadsbury' (L) $15.95
Big Leaf Hydrangea
A striking new offering for us with large and lustrous foliage, offering a perfect foil to precious and rather large lacecaps. Creamy white sepals blushed with mother-of-pearl pink surround pink fertile florets. This color will be more intense in alkaline soil; certainly transitioning to blue in acidic soil.
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Wave Hill' (L) $15.95
Big Leaf Hydrangea
A sport from Hydrangea macrophylla var. normalis æTricolorÆ shared with us by Marco Stufano, with silvery emargined and blotched foliage and large, striking lacecaps of blue centers surrounded by white sepals. A very pretty Hydrangea form for which we thank Marco and the fine folks at Wave Hill. 4.5 ft.
An excellent cultivar that we brought home many years ago from Washfield Nursery in Kent. Lovely, light blue lacecaps atop compact and dense stems, to 4 ft. x 4 ft., later picking up tints of pinkish red throughout the flower heads. One of the few dwarf lacecap hydrangeas available. Superb. 4.5 ft.
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Libelle' (L) $12.95
Big Leaf Hydrangea
Striking white plate-like lacecap inflorescences to 8ö across with rounded sepals, this is another of the fine Teller hybrid hydrangeas from Germany. In extremely acidic conditions, the flowers will transform to a light blue; equally choice in form and substance.
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Jogasaki' (L) $16.95
Big Leaf Hydrangea
Small fertile discs of pinkish white are surrounded by quite large and double, silvery pink sterile florets that spill forth in a fountainous and elegant fashion. Elegance incarnate, it is a hydrangea that can singly rewrite one's perception of what can be brought to the garden by this group of plants.
