Emerging from tufts of downy leaves and stems, the fantastic flowers display in handsome tones of brick red through deep purple. The flowersĘ petals are especially eye-pleasing and distinctive. Each flower possesses a spidery, deeply cleft petal edge, lending an awesome textural frisson. We are proud of this cultivar, the seedling-grown progeny from an isolated colony of this species in our rock garden. Especially effective in small groups.
