If you have only experienced Potentilla through the snapshots in the various garden periodicals, you may be a bit surprised when you come upon one in person. The blooms can be downright miniscule. This selection, then, is particularly garden-worthy. Just as the name implies, the sulfur-yellow blooms are large enough to produce a show. They are held upright above cushions of soft, gray-green, strawberry-like leaves, for a bright display all summer.
An almost perpetually flowering hybrid. An especially pretty species, producing a brilliant early summer show that continues right on until frost. Larger-flowered than most, the rich bicolor blooms are strawberry-red and lemon-yellow. Growing only 18 inches tall, it spreads to form a substantial specimen. Highly recommended.
