Our purest white hybrid yet. The elegant, gently nodding cups are snowy white with a small green center. æSnow BuntingÆ gathers in large, bright flocks in the dappled shade, waking up the sleepy winter garden.
Helleborus 'Gold Finch' $19.95
Lenten Rose
This precious cultivar glows with nicely rounded petals of soft green-yellow spotted with tiny red ocre flecks, centered with a deeper lime green. Pairs beautifully with æKingston CardinalÆ to highlight the pattern.
Peer closely at the delicate blooms of our recent addition to the Heronswood hellebore family; the petal structure is more reminiscent of a delicate Dendrobium orchid than a hellebore. A rare beauty, each petal is carefully edged in royal purple, with delicate wire-thin veining throughout the creamy white blossoms. An extravagant and rare choice.
We integrated the wide color palette from our experimental hellebore breeding program into exquisite single flowered forms. These rare blooms display petals on robust, ready-to-bloom plants. All are one-of-a-kind hellebore varieties.
A rare gem for the dappled shade, this little-grown member of the lily family has handsome rosettes of long and narrow foliage, to 5 x 5 inches. In late winter or early spring, it tosses up 5-8 inch spikes of fragrant, strikingly clean snow white flowers that fade to salmon-pink. Best grown in partially shaded sites in humus-rich soil. Steve Hootman of the Rhododendron Species Foundation collected this enchanting and surprisingly hardy species in China and shared it with us.
Cyclamen coum $10.95
Hardy Cyclamen
These hardy cyclamen relatives of the floristÆs cyclamen produce charming 2-inch flowers in a spectrum of colors ranging from white to carmine red that carpet the ground in winter to early spring, depending on the climate. The handsome, rounded leaves, marbled in shades of silver, make a lustrous groundcover through the winter and spring (going dormant, they take the summer off).
